Professor Featured in National Magazine

The AICUO is always proud when we hear about someone from one of our institutions doing well, so hearing about Kyle Phelps recent success was great news. Phelps, professor of sculpture at The University of Dayton, was recently recognized by the magazine American Craft along side his twin brother, Kelly Phelps.

The June/July issue will be featuring the brothers work on a seven page spread that has a focus on the working class America of today. The brothers often collaborate on projects together and have taken very similar paths in life. They attended Ball State and received bachelor degrees in fine arts, followed by receiving their masters of fine arts with a focus in ceramics and sculpting from The University of Kentucky. Kelly went on to teach at Xavier University, another AICUO institution, in Cincinnati.

Kyle and Kelly have been lucky enough to have been a part of over 115 exhibits across the globe as well as being featured in nearly 160 other publications for their work.

American Craft is a bimonthly magazine published by the American Craft Council, a national non-profit educational organization founded in 1943. A preview of the article is available at www.craftcouncil.org/magazine. The June/July issue of the magazine will be available in print in June.
