As we move into the summer months and forget what it is like to have to wake up for classes and have real responsibilities, keep your eyes open for all the great art opportunities that Columbus has to offer.
The 2013 Columbus Arts Festival, presented by Time Warner Cable, will be taking place along the Riverfront starting Friday June 7th and going until Sunday June 9th. During this time, the Riverfront will host a variety of artists turning the area into an outdoor gallery hosting many Columbus artists as well as over 230 world renowned artists. If that's not enough, come check out the live music and local food that will be out as well. Check out the Columbus Arts council page for more information. The Columbus Art Museum currently has some great exhibits going on over the summer as well. Currently there is a Mark Rothko exhibit featuring his work from The Decisive Decade showcasing 37 of his pieces from the 1940-1950 era. It will be at CMA until May 26 so see it soon! After the Rothko exhibit closes, there will be a tribute to a Columbus artist, George Bellows from August until January as well as Toulouse-Lautrec show with dates yet to be determined. For more information on what's going on at the museum visit http://www.columbusmuseum.org
In addition to all these great opportunities always keep your eyes open for new gallery openings in the Short North District, and we will be sure to update you on interesting art activities throughout the rest of the summer. Keep the artistic juices flowing this summer!
